UGANDA HOSTS GREAT APES EXHIBITION
The great Apes Exhibition headed to the rest of Uganda to promote domestic tourism. The great Apes exhibition was closed at Kampala Uganda Museum heading to the rest of the country. According Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), who organized the event, over 15,000 visitors were attracted for the exhibition in Uganda Museum. UWA aimed at educating, sensitizing and creating awareness about the decline of great Apes and the need of establishing a sustainable development to conserve and research on Apes. Present was the French Envoy who appreciated the programme and recommended as being very intricate. The French envoy further said that France realized that the future of tourism lies in the preservation of the great Apes. The great exhibition about Chimpanzees and Gorillas is undertaken under the framework of great Apes survival project. Various items including photos, tools used by Chimpanzees, medicinal plants used by chimpanzees, information on their equivalent in medicines used in traditional and modern pharmaceuticals for human, snares used to trap the Apes and myths and legends on the Apes was displayed. Ugandan tourism today mainly lies on Gorilla tourism, therefore through collaboration between Ugandan scientists and French scientists great Apes preservation may be achieved.
