Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will official visit Uganda in November 07 to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kampala.

Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will undertake an official visit to the Republic of Uganda in November for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kampala.
Their Royal Highnesses’ visit will reinforce Britain’s ties with this important Commonwealth partner. It will advance key British Government priorities in the promotion of sustainable development, youth opportunity and environmental protection plus  tourism.
The visit is timed to coincide with the bi-annual Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which, as usual, The Queen will attend, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh.
This will provide The Prince of Wales with an opportunity to consolidate and develop further the diplomatic and charitable work of his many official visits to Commonwealth countries through a series of engagements and meetings. Since 1954 The Prince has visited over thirty Commonwealth countries.

This is the first time  The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have visited Uganda.

On 11th October Clarence House announced that following on from Their Royal Highnesses’ visit to Uganda.

Queen Elizabeth 11 is slated to visit Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.

All is being done to receive Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth to a wildlife park Queen Elizabeth National Park named after her. This will be her second visit to this national park after her visit in 1950s. The British High Commission to Uganda Gordon Francois, last week toured Queen Elizabeth national park in preparation for this historic visit of the Queen.

The Queen among her travels, she will be making in Uganda on the Commonwealth Heads of Meeting taking place from 23rd November 2007. Francois accompanied by the State Minister Serapio Rukundo on charter flight to Kasese airfield was received by the district chairman Julius Kithaghenda.

The entourage inspected one the famous park’s tracks Kikorongo track and Mweya Safari Lodge where the Queen may spend overnight. The lodge has been given a new facelift and is ready to receive the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II of United Kingdom Arrives in Uganda

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of United Kingdom of Britain arrived in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport yesterday on 21st November 2007 abode Queen’s royal jet at 5.30 pm. She was welcomed by a grand welcome.

Two minutes later she stepped out of the airplane wearing a cream hat and long-sleeved beige overcoat and black bag strapped over her left shoulder. She was accompanied by her husband Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh who was wearing a dark suit. At Entebbe airport she was received by the British High Commission in Uganda Francois Gordon and the chief of Protocol in foreign affairs Ministry, Richard Ssenyomo.

The Queen paused for couple of seconds looking out at Lake Victoria. She was last here in 1954 when she commissioned the Owen Falls Dam at Jinja. After she was driven to New refurbished Entebbe State House. Was received by President Yoweri Museveni and his wife Janet Museveni.  She was given a red carpet welcome by the president and other high ranking officials in the government.

Inside the State House she was shown Uganda’s Court of Arms and other symbols of Uganda’s heritage. Both held a closed meeting. Queen Elizabeth has become the first head of state to be hosted at the renovated Entebbe State House. Crowds of Uganda people lined up along the Entebbe road to welcome her Convoy up to Kampala a stretch of 40 km.

According to Buckingham Palace officials in the royal entourage, over 100,000 people turned up to receive the Queen. They said they had never seen such reception during the Queen’s foreign visits.

Queen will open the Common Heads of Government Meeting CHOGM on 23rd November at Kampala Serena Hotel. Visit the  AIDs children hospital on Entebbe road Mildmay Center and address the Uganda Parliament. She is also expected to tour Queen Elizabeth National park later.
