UGANDA HIKING AND SIGHTSEEING  SAFARI

Day 1 :Kampala – Sipi Falls
Your driver/guide will pick you from Hotel in kampala after breakfast and drive to Eastern Uganda via Jinja. Visit Bujagali falls a breath taking point a set of falls a point of interest for water rafting. Then proceed to the source of river Nile where it starts its long journey of 4000km to the Mediterranean Sea.  Drive to Mbale town and stop at Uganda Wildlife Authority Mt. Elgon office park office for more information. Drive towards Kapchorwa and stop at Crows Nest. This can be starting point for your Sun setting nature walk at Sipi Falls. Depending on your energy the walk can explore all the sets of the falls. Dinner and overnight at Crows nest or Lacam Lodge.

Day 2: Sipi and Mt Elgon
After breakfast drive or walk to the Forest Exploration Centre and begin the on your nature walk to the Bamboo Loop/groove trekking. The nature walk is about 7-8km round trip offering an excellent opportunity to experience unique vegetation with varied species of  plants in short time that come with change of altitude. If you are strong you can walk up Tutum cave as you may get chances of catching a sight of Black and White Colobus Monkeys and variety of bird species – golden Winged and Tacazze  sunbirds , Turacos and Hornbills.  Overnight at Crows nest or Lacam Lodge.

Day 3:  Sipi –Jinja -Kampala

Drive back to Kampala via Jinja  and if you did not visit  the source of River Nile and the Bujjagali Falls this is the ample time to explore these features. If this was done on the first day, then visit Sezibwa falls – beautiful and spiritual site that was favourite for the Kabakas the Buganda kings. Get to knoe traditional healing hike around the falls and betold how the traditional healer performd ceremonies for those looking for love, children, successful business etc.  After the activities proceed to overnight at your  hotel in Kampala.

Day 4:  Kampala – Kabale  Bunyonyi .

Set off this morning crossing the equator.  The drive takes you through the grasslands of Ankole a common sight is the famous long horned cattle; then to the highlands of Kigezi with their beautiful terraced hills. Break off for lunch at Kabale town Then proceed  Lake Bunyonyi.  Hike to the surroundings; catch up with the beautiful scenery around the lake Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6.   Kabale  Bunyonyi – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National
Morning take a boat ride to the islands for bird watching,, hike around the islands  then proceed visit the pygmies island, swimming in free bilharzia water. After lunch continue with the journey through the beautiful scenery where you will be able to stop at Kanaba gap and view the Virungas and the great rift valley  on  a clear day.  Drive through Mafuga forest to arrive at Bwindi  –Buhoma at the fridges  the impenetrable forest  - Bwindi National Park in the evening. Dinner and overnight .

This park is home of the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma homestead. The Homestead is inside a thick forest providing clean accommodation, with cold and warm showers, flushing toilets and solar power lighting.

Day 6. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
After breakfast set off early with your guide to track the mountain gorilla of Bwindi.  The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of a potentially strenuous trek. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each encounter is different and has it’s own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of the adults feeding, grooming and resting as their youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. Return to camp exhilarated to relieve the encounter with friends over a drink. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Homestead.

Day 7. Bwindi National Park - Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Today a second visit to the forest and will go for a forest walk and see some of the other creatures that share this forest with the gorillas.  Explore the hidden waterfalls and marvel at the splendour of this African forest. River Munyaga also offer a beautiful natural sight of twin falls. After that relaxing walk you will return to the homestead and have your lunch and depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the most outstanding treasures of Uganda, and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve for Humanity under UNESCO auspices.  Drive towards Kyambura gorge and stop for scenery viewing and proceed to Mweya peninsular, and proceed to check in at Mweya Safari Lodge. Dinner and overnight.

Day8: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kibale National Park
After breakfast, you will game drive looking for game. Afternoon take a boat ride on Kazinga Channel where you will see a variety of game mostly marine animals. This waterway joins Lake Edward and Lake George and it is filled with schools of hippos, buffaloes, with elephants at the banks. Retire to the lodge for your hot lunch. Check out and proceed to Kibale with a stop over at Kikorongo and explore the crater area.  As you drive you will view the spectacular view of the Rwenzori Mountains enroute. They lie along the western border of Uganda and rise to a height of 5,100 metres.  The legendary Mountains of the Moon, has incomparable, beautiful, mist–shrouded peaks provide a unique backdrop to one of our most magnificent national parks.

 Proceed to Fort Portal for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Kibale Forest National Park – Fort Pportal
After breakfast visit Kanyanchu the park offices for your nature walk where you will see   other primates like the colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys plus other primates that share this forest with chimpanzees. The park also hosts over 320 species of birds including the yellow spotted nectar, yellow rumped tinker birds  etc. It also has colorful butterflies, over 250 species have been spotted. For nature lovers, the dense forest is still intact you can see trees of different species.  Afternoon take a nature walk exploring the Bigodi eco-tourism sanctuary.  Return to the to Fort  Portal  check in at Ruwenzori View Guest House dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Fort Portal – Bundibugyo and Semuliki- Kampala
After breakfast drive along Bundibugyo road capture the beautiful scenery of Rwenzori Mountains and proceed to visit the fuming hot springs (Sempaya) and the Batwa (pygmies) an Ituri ethnic group who historically depended and still depend on Semuliki Forest. Their lifestyle is now changing due to interaction with other local communities and the impact of tourism. They now live on hunting, fruit gathering, and assistance from the local communities and contributions from tourists who go to interact with them. Time will be a guiding factor and return to drive through Mubende Mityana road. The drive is long and enjoyable as you drive past tea estimates and plenty of forests along the road. You will be  arrive in Kampala late in the evening at your  the hotel.  End of tour
