10 Days Safari in Uganda and Mountain Gorillas
Day 1:
Kampala-Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast drive to Murchison falls. Stop for lunch at Masindi town. After lunch proceed to Murchison falls. Visit the top of the falls an exciting point where millions of gallons of water squeeze in 6-7 meter gap with thunderous sound before falling down 40 meters forming placid river. Day 2:
Murchison Falls National Park
Early morning take game drive looking for wildlife. Murchison Falls is the largest national park in the country and harbors different flora and fauna. Your game drive in the morning with a local guide who will assist you to sight wild game in the northern bank of River Nile where concentrations of game are in common sight of elephants, giraffes, antelopes, lions leopards hyenas and many bird species are a common sight.
After lunch in the afternoon go for a boat cruise on the famous River Nile up to the bottom of falls viewing variety of game that throng along banks of the river. Chances of sighting the shoe bill stork are many though not a guarantee and many more bird species continue up to the bottom of the falls where you will see animals like schools of hippos, crocodiles and many species of birds dinner and overnight. Day 3:
Murchison Falls – Fort Portal.
Morning after breakfast proceed to Fort Portal /Kibale with packed lunch. Drive in one of the remotest parts of this country enjoying different forest environment and other savannah woodland vegetation plus communities along the road stop where you find local market to mix briefly with local people. Arrival will be a in the evening enjoy nice views of the mountains of the moon on clear days.
Continue to Kibale National Park where you will settle in at Primate Lodge luxury tent facilities. Dinner and overnight FB
Day 4:
Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast visit Kanyanchu the park headquarter offices for your chimpanzee tracking where you will see other primates like the colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys plus other primates that share this forest with chimpanzees. The park also hosts over 320 species of birds including the yellow spotted nectar, yellow rumped tinker birds etc. It also has colorful butterflies; over 250 species have been spotted. For nature lovers, the dense forest is still intact you can see trees of different species. Track chimps in their natural habitat. Kibale Forest National Park is believed to have most concentration of primates in the world. Over 12 different species of primates including chimps in this park have been recorded. Enjoy a lot plant life with tall tropical tree species.
After lunch drive along the foot of Mountain Rwenzori and on clear days enjoys its nice ice peaks that remain wonder on equator line. Stop for communities along the road stop where you find local market to mix briefly with local people. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge. FB
Day 5:
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Early Breakfast in the morning, there after carryout a game drive to catch-up with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. You are likely to meet grazing hippos, elephants, lions, spotted hyenas and leopards, bushbuck, waterbuck and stripped jackal, and of-course the several warthogs.
After lunch take boat cruise on Kazinga channel connecting Lake George and Lake Edward viewing different game lion, elephant, buffalo and many more plus plenty of birdlife. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari Lodge. FB
Day 6:
Queen Elizabeth – Ishasha – Bwindi
After breakfast you will drive Kyambura gorge to track chimpanzees. After picnic lunch, drive towards the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth national park. – The Ishasha sector famous for climbing lions. And precede to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the home of Mountain Gorillas. It is estimated half of the world’s surviving population of mountain gorillas –300 live within Bwindi boundaries. Day 7:
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Early morning breakfast and head for gorilla trekking with guides together with other tourists trackers on this day. The trek is strenuous but enjoyable. This is the major tourist attraction in Bwindi. Carry packed lunch with you that will have at picnic site in the forest. The thrill of your encounter with these gentle giants will erase your difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Spend time in awe watching gorillas go about their activities. Each encounter is different and has it’s own rewards. You are likely to enjoy a close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic from vines in a delightfully playful display. Day 8:
Bwindi – Bunyonyi
After breakfast will be have a village walk around Buhoma Community where you will different local people as they do their day to day activities, visit the local/traditional healers, local brew distillation points, after the village walk will return back the lodge for lunch, after lunch will drive to Kabale and continue to Lake Bunyonyi, check in at you lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 9:
Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo
Morning take a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi a seeing plenty of bird life and visiting communities as they go their daily activities. Enjoy this Switzerland of Africa scenery. After lunch drive to Lake Mburo national park or Mbarara town. Lunch will be on the way transfer to Lake Mburo Diner and overnight at Mantana Safari Lodge.
Day 10:
Lake Mburo – Kampala
After Breakfast take a game drive take boat ride on Lake Mburo proceed to Masaka road to Kampala. Stopover on your way could be for Ankole grassland where long horned cattle are common sight. Continue northwards breaking at the Equator crossing. Continue to Kampala.

10 days Uganda Rwanda Safari Trekking Gorillas in Rwanda
Day 1 – Arrival at Entebbe Airport
Arrival at Entebbe airport, reception and transfer to the hotel in Kampala. Briefing. Time permitting we will visit the city tour time allowing. Overnight at Hotel Triangle or Fairway Hotel or Metropole Hotel.
Day 2 – Murchison Falls National Park (BLD)
Early breakfast and depart to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (170 Kms northwest from Kampala and half way to Murchison Falls National Park). Game drive and walk to track the white rhinos that are spending the hot hours mostly in the swampy areas. Depart to Masindi where we will have lunch at Court View Hotel. After lunch proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. We drive in a beautiful landscape, land gets flat towards the north as you head to the bottom of the Victoria Nile. Ferry crossing and check in at our lodge or camp.
Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge for luxury and upmaket facilities or Sambiya River Lodge or Murchison Falls River Lodge for Moderate facilities or Red Chilli Camp (bandas or tents for budget facility).
Day 3 – Murchison Falls National Park (BLD)
Morning game drive in the northern bank of river Nile as we look out for the elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, hartebeest, Oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, spotted hyena and if lucky you could even spot the leopard. We will be back in time to have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon we take a boat cruise upstream to the “bottom of the falls”. The Nile here gets calm at the base of the falls, we stop a few metres from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, marvel at the hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephants as well as a lot of bird species like Goliath heron, pelican bee– eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.
If you are energetic , at this point will get off the boat and, hike to the “top of the falls” to catch a close view of the beauty that forms the Murchison Falls. This is a pleasant guided walk that takes about one hour. Our driver will pick us from the top and then drive back to the lodge. Day 4 – Fort Portal (BLD)
This day we drive to Fort Portal via Hoima, in a breathtaking landscape that forms the Albertine western Rift Valley. It is a quite long drive but we will have several stop over to relax, and sightseeing as we pass vibrant countryside, traditional homesteads and farms. We will have our packed/picnic lunch on the way. Check in and relax or take a walk in Fort Portal town until dinner. Day 5 – Kibale Forest (BLD)
Early transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, where all morning is dedicated to search for chimpanzees and other primate including: I’hoestes, red colobus, blues, red tailed and grey– cheeked mangabey. After we will stop in Fort Portal to have lunch, before proceeding to Queen Elizabeth National Park / Peninsula sector where we will do a game drive in the crater lakes (Katwe) area, a stunning landscape where we will look for elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and if lucky even the leopard. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Buffalo Safari Lodge or Bush Lodge Farmland Safari Resort Lodge.
Day 6 – Queen Elizabeth National Park (BLD)
In the early morning we do a game drive in the Kasenyi area, within the Queen Elizabeth National Park, on a look out for the lions, buffalos, elephants, and large numbers of Uganda Kobs and other antelopes. After lunch at our lodge we will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, to look out for the hippos, great herds of buffalos, and lots of water birds. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Buffalo Safari Lodge or Bush Lodge Farmland Safari Resort Lodge.
Day 7 – Queen Elizabeth National Park (BLD)
In the early morning we do another game drive in the Kasenyi area, within Queen Elizabeth National Park. After we will go back to the lodge for breakfast, and then we drive to Ishasha, which is in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. We will arrive in time for lunch at Wilderness Camp, before going for a game drive looking for the tree climbing lions and other game. Dinner and overnight at Ishasha Wilderness Camp.
Day 8 – Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda) (BLD)
After early breakfast we will depart to Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda), home of the endangered mountain gorilla. We will cross Kabale and Kisoro where we will stop for lunch at Traveller´s Rest (where Dian Fossey used to stay, resting from the long periods spent observing the mountain gorillas in the Virunga Volcanoes). Then we proceed to Cyanika´s border post, and after clearing we will continue to Ruhengeri and Kinigi, at the base of Sabinyo mountain (one of the Virunga Volcanoes). Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla view Lodge or Le Mbambou Lodge or Gorillas Nest Hotel or Asoferwa Kinigi Guest House.
Day 9 – Volcanoes National Park / Kigali (BLD)
After an early morning breakfast, we will be transferred to the national park headquarters in order to be briefed by the park rangers before departing for the hike in search for the Great Mountain Gorillas. The excursion in a thick rainforest and the interaction with the mountain ape, gives a wonderful experience in life. We will have lunch /picnic lunch after returning to the hotel. In the afternoon we will depart to Kigali. Dinner at the hotel or restaurant. Overnight at Manor Hotel Hotel des Mille Collines (pool side room) or Hotel Chez Lando.
Day 10 – Kigali (B)
Breakfast before being transferred to the airport for your departure flight. Note: Time allowing, we will visit Genocide Memorial, and the crafts village.

After breakfast you will to the southern west of the country stopping at The Equator crossing for nice photo taking and proceed to Mbarara where will break for lunch at Ingongo cultural site. Will visit the site and later proceed to Lake Bunyonyi in to the southern end of Uganda. Continue to the scenic lake Bunyonyi Overland Resort for overnight. Day 3: Kabale – Bwindi
Morning take a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi to the Islands seeing a different bird species and other local community activities. Enjoy the undulating hills that make a beautiful scenery part of this country once known as the Switzerland of Africa.
After lunch will drive to Bwindi where about gorillas live within these boundaries shared by Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. The drive is enjoyable viewing different sight seeing features You will then settle in at Kitandara Tented camp for Upmarket Accommodation . They are all near the park offices location. Day 4: Gorilla Tracking Bwindi
Morning after breakfast with packed lunch, you will be escorted to the starting point for briefing by your guide. You will be allocated guides to track gorillas with, and then will be off to begin your adventure. A briefing from your local guides and then it’s off! The time taken and the terrain varies (1- 8 hours) this depends on the movement of these gentle giants. The thrill of meeting face to face takes away the pain of some times long and arduous trek. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in delightfully playful manner.

You will need to carry long pants like jean type, sturdy shoes to help you hiking steep and slippery slopes, long sleeved shirts and blouses to protect your bodies from thorns and itching plants. Day 5: Bwindi to Ishasha – Queen Elizabeth park
After early breakfast head for Ishasha, which is the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, carry out a game drive where you may sight tree-climbing lions. (This subject to good road if the road is bad, diversion will be made to Mweya Peninsular in Queen national park. Ishasha is dominated by acacia woodland and scrubland and features the meandering Ishasha River, banked by a riparian forest. Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Early morning game drive to see more animals that habit this park, that include predators lion. leopard and other game. Over 500 bird species have been identified here, making it a Mecca for bird-watchers. They include the black bee–eater, 11 different species of kingfisher and several falcons, eagles and other raptors. Queen Elizabeth National is one of the most outstanding treasures of Uganda, and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve for Humanity under UNESCO auspices. It borders on Lake George and Lake Edward as well as Kazinga Channel in the western area of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.
After lunch take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel. This waterway joins Lakes Edward and George and it is filled with schools of hippos, buffaloes with elephants at the banks. You are likely to meet grazing hippos, elephants, lions, spotted hyenas and leopards, bushbuck, waterbuck and stripped jackal, and of-course the several warthogs. Day 7: Queen Elizabeth – Kibale NP/Fort Portal

Day 8: Kibale Forest – Chimp tracking
After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest National Park famous for chimpanzee tracking. With local guides track chimps in their natural Forest in the shadows of the Rwenzori Mountains (the famed mist shrouded “Mountains of the Moon”) Kibale Forest is rich in animal life, including an astonishing 12 species of primates including chimps in this park have been recorded, the very localized red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys. Tracking the chimpanzee our ‘cousin’ is a very interesting experience. The way they feed, climb trees, respond to humans, caring for their young ones leaves an imaginative dream to tell.

Day 9: Fort Portal town – Semuliki Valley
In the morning Drive to Semuliki passing the road that overlooks the rift valley for sight seeing of the Great rift Valley and many lakes situated in the rift. Descend into the Semuliki valley national park. Stop on clear day to capture nice memorable suns setting to horizon and nice views of Rwenzori mountains ranges with its ice caps, view Ice caps on the peaks of Stanley and Magherita, and their incomparable, beautiful, mist-shrouded peaks provide a unique backdrop to one of our most magnificent national park-
Visit the Sempaya Hot springs at the bed of the rift valley . Be told the importance of such springs and their healing powers. Time allowing visit communities around including the pygmies . Later return to Fort Portal dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Fort Portal town – Kampala- airport /Entebbe.
This day in the morning after breakfast will be driven to the airport Transfer at Entebbe. Lunch stop can be on the way or in Kampala And later proceed for your airport drop for you home bound flight.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park
This is the largest national park in Uganda and has a large concentration of wildlife animals. Start the day with an early morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile River with a bigger concentration of game where you will be able to view those animals that are unique to the African Savannah like the giraffe, lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant hyena, the Uganda kob etc. The bird life is also impressive, with the African fish Eagle being one of the prized sightings and with luck the rare shoebill stork. There is also a variety of vegetation ranging from riparian forests and swamp lands to broad Savannah.
After lunch, take a launch and exclusive boat cruise upstream to the falls on the Nile River where you will see huge crocodiles, schools of hippos, buffaloes, elephants and a variety of water birds on lucky day may encounter the Shoe Bill stork. Day 4: Murchison Falls – Semuliki Valley National Park
Drive to Fort Portal with picnic passing the road that overlooks the rift valley for sight seeing of the Great rift Valley and many lakes situated in the rift. Capture blue Mountain of Congo on clear days . stop for places where market are available enroute stop over to see the tea plantations, arriving in the evening check in Fort Portal and descend into the Semuliki valley national park. Stop on clear day to capture nice memorable suns setting to horizon and nice views of Rwenzori mountains ranges with its ice caps, view Ice caps on the peaks of Stanley and Magherita, and their incomparable, beautiful, mist-shrouded peaks provide a unique backdrop to one of our most magnificent national park- Queen Elizabeth and the meandering Semuliki River at the bed of the national park. Day6: Semuliki to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning will take boat ride on lake Albert visiting different fishing villages to learn the surrounding community lifestyle. After, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enroute you will see the spectacular view of the Rwenzori Mountains. They lie along the western boarder of Uganda and rise to a height of 5,100 meters. Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park
This park is one of the most outstanding treasures of Uganda, and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve for Humanity under UNESCO auspices. It borders Lake George and Lake Edward as well as Kazinga Channel in the western area of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.
The day begins with an early game drive looking for wildlife. There are variety of game; lion, buffalo, elephant, Uganda kob, bushbuck and the rare leopard. About 600 bird species have been identified here, making it a Mecca for bird-watchers. They include the black bee-eater, 11 different species of kingfisher and several falcons, eagles and other raptors. Take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel in the afternoon. Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park- Bwindi
After breakfast go for chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge OR for another early morning game drive that may yield chances to catch up with early riser – predators like lions, leopards, hyenas etc. Will proceed to Bwindi National park famous for gorilla tracking.
On your way will stop in the Ishasha sector famous for climbing lions. Do game drive looking for these cats . After proceed to Bwindi .Overnight stay will be at Buhoma Lodge an up market facilities. If track in families accessed from Kisoro overnight will be at Kisoro Travelers Rest Hotel
Day 9: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
After breakfast, will be led to the starting point, you will receive a briefing from the local guides and then it’s off on the adventure. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movements of these great primates. The thrill of meeting them face-to-face takes away the pain of the long and arduous trek. After tracking if you come out early out of the forest will rest like and hour and then take a village walk in the evening. Day 10: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Par Kampala/Airport.
Morning return and drive to Kampala with stopover to view the long horned Ankole cattle in the open savannah grassland, over at Equator crossing for lifetime photo taking . Continue to the airport if your flight fall on this day (flight to be above 1700 hrs) OR be dropped in Kampala and be left on your own. End of Safari.

Day 2: Kampala – Kibale Forest National Park
Morning after breakfast be driven to Fort Portal/Kibale. After lunch drive through the lush green countryside on Mityana-Mubende road to Fortportal stopping at some coffee holdings tea plantations and open swamp valleys. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/Fort Motel for upmarket or Toro Resort or Rwenzori View Guest House for budget.
Day 3: Kibale Forest – Chimp tracking
After an early breakfast, with local guides trek chimps Kibale National Park in their natural habitat nestled in the shadows of the Rwenzori Mountains (the famed mist shrouded “Mountains of the Moon”) Kibale Forest is rich in animal life, including an astonishing 12 species of primates have been recorded, the very localized red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys. Tracking the chimpanzee our ‘cousin’ is a very interesting experience. The way they feed, climb trees, respond to humans, caring for their young ones leaves an imaginative dream to tell.
In the afternoon visit the surrounding- Bigodi swamp for birding or enjoy unique view of crater lakes and other volcanic features. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/Fort Motel for upmarket or Toro Resort or Rwenzori View Guest House for budget.
Day 4: Kibale Forest/Fort Portal town – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast depart at your leisure for Queen Elizabeth National arrive in time for Boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. Or visit the crater area and enjoy volcanic features. Dinner and overnight Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge for upmarket or Institute of Ecology Hostel for budget.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park
This park is one of the most outstanding treasures of Uganda, and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve for Humanity under UNESCO auspices. It borders on Lake George and Lake Edward as well as Kazinga Channel in the western area of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.
The day begins with an early game drive. There are variety of animals like; lions, buffaloes, elephants, kobs, bushbucks and the rare leopards. Over 500 bird species have been identified here, making it a Mecca for bird-watchers. They include the black bee-eater, 11 different species of kingfisher and several falcons, eagles and other raptors. Take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel in the afternoon. This waterway joins Lakes Edward and George and it is filled with schools of hippos, buffaloes with elephants at the banks. Retire to your accommodation for dinner and over night. Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kabale Lake Bunyonyi
You will take an early morning breakfast giving you chance to to enjoy the zenith of your Uganda safari when you view early risers- lions, leopard and hyenas .Explore more chances of viewing other species of game you may not have sighted yet and retire to your accommodation for late breakfast. With packed lunch leave this interesting part of the world to Kabale. Arrive in the evening at Kabale and proceed to dramatically scenic Lake Bunyonyi. Overnight at Acadia Cottages or Bunyonyi Safari Resortor Habuharo Lodge for up marketr or Bunyonyi Overland Camp for budget.
Day 7: Kabale – Rwanda
Morning take a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi to the Islands seeing a different bird species and other local community activities. Enjoy the undulating hills that make a beautiful scenery part of this country once known as the Switzerland of Africa. After early lunch cross border to Uganda -Rwanda boarder and drive Ruhengeri overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le Mbambou Lodge ,for upmarket or Kinigi Hotel/Hotel Muhabura in Ruhengeri for middle and budget facilities.
Day 8 Parc de Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast with packed lunch you will be driven to the park headquarters where the local guides will lead you to the very family you will track gorillas. Tracking gorillas seeing a variety of fauna this day will be gist of your safari. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movement of these gentle giants. The thrill of meeting them face-to-face takes away the pain of some times long and arduous trek. Enjoy a close view of these primates as they undergo their daily activities. you will particularly enjoy the young ones as swing from branch to branch while the sliver back patrols to ensure the safety of the entire family. Return to your Hotel for overnight .
Day 9: Rwanda -Kisoro – Kampala
After Breakfast, Cross border to Uganda and drive to Kampala with lunch stop on the way. Stopover on your way could be in Ankole grassland where long horned cattle are common sight. Continue southwards stopping at Equator the hemispheres meeting point for your memorable photogragh taking, Mpambire in Mpigi an art and craft center where drum making technology has been passed on from generation to generation. Check in at Serena Hotel Sheraton/Hotel Africana for upmarket or Holiday Express Hotel dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Airport Transfer
If time allows, visit Botanical gardens before transfer to the airport for your homebound flight.
